Grass seed's germination
The germination rate is "tagged" on most bags of seed. This germination rate varies depending on type of seed, manufacturer and other factors. Typically, this germination rate is between 60-90% as tested in ideal, laboratory conditions where moisture and temperature are accurately controlled.

Since the typical user cannot match these ideal conditions, the germination rate could range from 0% to the germination rate tagged on the bag. The following germination rates apply to the germination rate tagged on the bag.

In other words, a 65% germination rate applies to 65% of the germination rate tagged on the bag.
